'Co-op' Co-op is a supermarket chain that sells diecast truck models in the limited range of toys they offer. In the 1980s Co-op also sold at least two plastic 1/87 models, a kind of promotionals for Co-op themselves. The first one is a model of a Mercedes-Benz 1217
truck, which was made in China and looked remarkably like a copy of a Herpa
model. This, ofcourse, led to problems, but Herpa allowed Co-op to sell the
remaining stock under the condition that all remaining models were clearly
marked as not being a Herpa product. The second model we know of is a Saurer D290. This model has a trailer that is identical to the one used with the Mercedes model but the chassis and cab of the truck itself were simplified and are rather crude.
