Norev Micro-Miniatures

The original Norev Micro-Miniatures were made from 1957 to about 1969-1970. Most of them were based on French prototypes, there were only two 'foreign' models, the Alfa (which was originally an Anguplas model) and the Mercedes 220. Norev has cooperated with Anguplas on several models, and some of the Norev models were actually made or assembled in Spain. A complete list of these 'cooperation models' can be found on the Anguplas page. In the 1960s Norev sold the/a (?) mould(s) of their Unic Izoard Truck to ARI.

The first 'new' model, a Renault Kangoo in 1/87 was announced in 2000 and was released in a promotional version for the German 'Deutsche Post' in 2001. From february 2001 Norev started rereleasing the 'old' 1/86 Micro-Miniatures models and also started to make new models (Several Citroën, Peugeot and Volkswagen types), these were used as promotionals by the car manufacturers first and became available in the hobby-shops later on. Besides these new injection moulded plastic models Norev also made five 1/87 models of contemporary Peugeots in solid metal. The Peugeot  206, 307, 607, 807 and RC concept are available from Peugeot dealerships as solid metal keychain models and these models are quite well detailed and look a bit like the Bburago keychain models.

Renault models are also available at Renault dealers in a special packing (plastic cylinder with 'Renault' on the endcaps) and in different colors (the dark green Renault 16 pictured below for example). Promotional models for Michelin (in a Michelin box) are also known. From November 2003 onward Rietze also offered the Renault Kangoo with different prints.

The Norev models were initially made of a kind of plastic (P) known as 'Rhodalite', some of the models were later released in metal (M). Other models were also available as keychains, these models have a hole in the roof.

Norev Mini-Jet

In the series of die-cast 1/66th scale Mini-Jet models Norev offered two Truckmodels in approximately 1/100th scale. At the time these models were made (1982-1988), no 1/87th models of the Volvo F89 or Renault GLR were available and modellers sometimes used the cabs for conversions. The models do turn up at swapmeets or in auctions sometimes and are often mislabelled as 1/87th.
