SS Ltd. / Scale Structures Ltd.
Initially, SS Ltd. produced buildings and lineside structures for use on 1/87 and O scale model railroads. They started making 1/87 vehicles in the early 1970s, and their truck kits first appeared on the market in March of 1976.
The ref# in the list of kits are the original numbers, besides these numbers there is also the 'new' numbering system that was introduced when Wm.K. Walthers aquired the assets of SS Ltd. due to business debts owed them by the owner of SS Ltd.
Several, if not all, of the models have also been available under the 'Rapid Miniature Motor Co.' label. The kits we know of have the same 4-digit reference numbers as found on the Scale Structures boxes. The box label does not mention 'Rapid Miniature Motor Co.', it just mentions 'Scale Structures Ltd, a division of Wm. K. Walthers'. On the instruction sheet in the boxes however just the Rapid Miniature brand (as a division of SS Ltd.) is mentioned and not the 'Wm. K. Walthers'.
